The Fury goes to MCU Park in Brooklyn to face New York Cosmos for a special game at the stadium of the New York Mets’ single-A affiliate. Some of the Ottawa supporters are making the trek to New York currently, while your correspondent is heavily debating whether to make the 8-hour drive himself tomorrow morning πŸ™‚

Ottawa returns to New York for the first time since the infamous Danny Szetela-Oliver incident, in which Szetela’s elbow smashed Oliver’s mouth, with the player suffering a fractured jaw and several lost teeth and missing a number of games as a result.

New York tops the league with 8 points from 4 matches, with 2 W’s and 2D’s. They have once again showcased their stingy defense, with Jimmy Maurer (just named NASL Player of the Month for April today) and the usual back 4 all returnees from the 2014 season. Marcos Senna and Szetela, two very recognizable names, patrol the midfield, while Walter Restrepo was the huge signing from San Antonio.

And I have a huge amount of respect for Raul from his time at Real Madrid, as a Valencia fan and an avid follower of La Liga since the turn of the century. He has shown himself to be a model professional throughout his career and carries an enormous amount of clout in the Spanish-speaking football world.

Ottawa will be looking to get a positive result after three 3-1 losses in a row. This game will be another tough one, but these are the situations where the club must rise up. As NASL notes, it’s been an exhausting run for Ottawa over the last two weeks, with Fury FC set to play its 5th match since April 18, due to the two Voyageurs Cup ties.

The return of Marc Dos Santos to the manager seat, after two games away due to bereavement and suspension, will be warmly welcomed.
